Lancaster Exam Policies and Procedures
Why do schools have their own exam procedures?
Alongside the national rules set by JCQ, every school creates its own exam procedures and policies. These are in place to make sure that exams run smoothly and fairly for all students.
Each school has a unique layout, timetable, and group of students, so local procedures explain how the JCQ rules will work in practice. For example, a school will set out:
-
Where students should line up before an exam
-
How belongings are stored safely outside the exam room
-
What to do if a student is unwell or late
-
How access arrangements (such as extra time) will be managed on the day
By following these procedures, the school ensures that exams are consistent, well-organised, and compliant with national standards. It also means students know exactly what to expect, helping to reduce anxiety and keep the focus on doing their best in the exam itself.
